  We had a delightful experience with Josie as our main host. A bit of fun and the young gentleman who recommended the White Rabbit Pale Ale was right in his beer selection. The home made pie was scrumptious and made for a nice Saturday lunch in the Dandenongs. We joined another couple and traveled from either sides. After researching the origins of Pig and Whistle left a message with Josie that she pinned up for future conversation piece. Keep up the good work

  Overall a very disappointing experience. Have been coming here irregularly over last 20 years. Today I brought the family here for Mothers Day lunch. As expected it was somewhat busy and we arrived for their second sitting which was a three course set lunch. We were pleasantly greeted and promptly seated and our orders taken. That was great however it all went downhill from there. Our entree arrived prior to our drinks. Five minutes after entree was served, our bottle of unopened wine was plonked on the table along with wine glasses. Serve yourself I guess. Entree of three cheese soufflé was okay but dry as if it had been sitting too long under a warmer. We patiently waited for our mains. Our sons main came out after twenty minutes. We watched as others who arrived after us received their mains. Eventually one of the waitresses noticed something was wrong and apologised for the 'stuff up'. Twenty minutes later after our sons main arrived, our mains of pork belly arrived. They were good main meals. Desert followed shortly after, one stick date pudding and one chocolate brownie served with ice cream and cream. I have eaten better out of a supermarket packet mix and to serve this to customers clearly indicates that you either don't care or shouldn't be in the food industry. It might work in an aged care facility but not in a pub/restaurant. Whilst there, I noticed that there were shortages in cutlery and staff telling customers to hold onto their used cutlery as they did not have enough replacement cutlery. Not good enough in my view. I paid my bill and left. I was never asked how our meals or experience was upon leaving hence I am sharing it with the broader community. Clearly the Pig & Whistle is not interested in customer experience or service. There was ample opportunity to engage as you requested me to attend the front counter to enter my PIN number. Hopefully this review will assist prospective customers in making an informed decision before attending. Overage average meal and truly ordinary service. Appreciate it was a busy day but you had a set menu with a choice of only two mains and two deserts. Two stars is being generous for the experience you provided.
